The first thing that stand out at me is the mix/master on this. I felt that you had a very nice arrangement, but your sounds could've been mixed a little better to give you that energy you wanted. Again, great arrangement, but the mix held it back, I think.

Dylnmatrix responds:

Yeah, it could be mixed a bit better. I didn't do much before I exported it, as I'm lazy and not very confident in my mixing abilities. But I'll definitely look into fixing it. Thanks for taking the time to review! It really helps.

I think that this was a very fun track, here. Some nice groovy melodies and arrangement. Great job on this piece.

Dylnmatrix responds:

Thanks for the feedback ^^

I honestly don't think I could add to what others have already said except for the fact that the mix on this track is very nice.

BlazingDragon responds:

Thank you very much! The funny thing is that I knew next to nothing about mixing when I made this. I mean, it's pretty simple mixing...Some pan, a little verb, and made sure nothing popped out (except perhaps the bass and that silly cymbal). There was no EQ work whatsoever, or compression, or mastering. I guess it just happened to turn out nice. x_x

But now that it has been a whole year since the competition, I can reveal my former incompetencies. XD

The part at 2:24 really captured the slow motion moment of you witnessing the actual heart attack during the game. Then the death, you coming to grips with it, and despair. You then start to heal from these deep wounds. to realize that life is worth living, in honor of them. That's what I felt through this. This was a great piece, here, indeed.

I'm glad you wrote that. It's tough losing someone, but I do indeed believe that life is worth living, in part to honor them. Thank you for your review. :)

I'll let you know if I think of a title. I think this composition is great for MIDI. The mix is pretty nice on this as well. Great job on this!

BlazingDragon responds:

Thank you! That class was great and helped my mixing improve quite a bit.

TOTALLY diggin this melody!! I definitely get the whole closing credits feel from this. I like it a lot. How would you say that your mixing skills are? Love that part around 1:50 too. Nice breakdown.

LemonCrush responds:

My mixing skills...not so good. LOL. It's kind of hit an miss for me...Sometimes I can miss pretty well, imo, but other times probably not so good. I just kind of mix with the intent of making sure all instruments sounds in the right spot, as oppose to trying to make it sound radio quality.

Pretty nice for trance, man. I'm liking your mix on this as well. Very nice usage of sounds in this, definitely!

patrickliberty responds:

thanks bro, hows life been treating ya

oh word, man. I'm gonna get up with you. I'm working on a truth project where I'm collabing with another producer and many lyricists. I would love to use this for one of my interludes, man. Let me know.

patrickliberty responds:

o yea for sure man... that would be great

What's up, Gunner! I know it's long time, no see! This is mad dope, man! Do you mind if I sample this loop into a track?

trancedatlantic responds:

I'm taking a journey to learn the art of creating great, clean, soul-moving music and beats. My influences are JDilla, Black Milk, 9th Wonder, Madlib, you know..producers of that mindset. So, if you're one of those guys that like "Radio" hip hop, not here
