It's really Outer world jazzy. Reminds me of a song that would be on Cowboy Bebop :)

I assume you are referring to the guitars. I used GuitarRig 4, loading up different retro-styled presets and tweaking them around until i got a good sound, then did some finishing touches with native Renoise DSP effects.
